Where Health & Technology Coincide

The dual realms of health and technology have long worked together, but it is often unclear how exactly they do so, especially for those of us who are hardly experts in either field - which is most people on the planet. But we all benefit from a range of health and technology improvements, and looking at and understanding the ways in which they intermingle can help us to look after our own health better, and appreciate more fully the clever things that medicine and technology do for us every day. In this post, we are going to take a look at just a few examples of the kinds of things that technology often does to help us with our health. These are all very common things which are still amazing, and are worth remembering once in a while.

Hearing Aids

It was not all that long ago that, if you were diagnosed as having hearing loss, there wasn’t really anything that you could do about it. Most people would have to just accept that they were going deaf, and that they would not really be able to expect much improvement in that area at all. These days, however if you suffer any kind of hearing loss at all, no matter the cause, you can expect a number of solutions to be offered which you are able to take up. The more common and one of the most incredible of these is the hearing aid, which is still a relatively recent form of technology and something which a lot of people have to use these days. Hearing aids have helped many people with their
hearing, and will continue to do so far into the future.

Pacemakers

The heart is one of the most important organs in the body, and when something goes wrong with it it can be a particularly worrying issue to have. If you have ever had any worries or scares surrounding the heart, then you will know that there are a lot of reasons why you might feel anxious about it. Some of the most common issues are arrhythmias, or in other words abnormal beating of the heart. These can pose a problem to a person’s health is they are ignored, and fortunately these days there are plenty of ways to help with such issues. For more serious examples of this, you might even be fitted with a pacemaker, which is an electrical device which is fitted in the heart to help it keep a regular rhythm. These are getting smaller and more efficient, and the technology behind them continues to save lives every day.

Echocardiogram

The ultrasound is something that may be used for many purposes, most famously when someone is pregnant. It is also used to look at any internal organs which might have a problem, and again the heart is done in particular which might be the subject of an ultrasound. These echocardiograms take a complete picture of the heart in 3D and can be used to spot any issues which might arise.
