When you got engaged and you told your friends you were getting married, after the congratulations it is normally followed with a “so when is the bachelor/bachelorette party being helped?” In some cases, many people are happy to still embrace this long lasting tradition of having a celebration with friends and family separate from your partner to celebrate you entering into the world of marriage. But, in some cases, this isn’t the be all and end all as it once was. Many people are opting for different ways than the standard night out so we thought we would explore some of the rising trends for this tradition.

The joint party

One of the newest trends to rise when it comes to bachelor and bachelorette parties is to have a joint one. Many couples nowadays have been together for some time before getting engaged, and in many cases can have a long engagement, so you may find that the friends they have made are together as a couple. So a joint party means that everyone is together and enjoy the day. It could mean you spend a day at the races, you enjoy a night out together or do something different like go on holiday with a select group of friends.

The more sophisticated approach

If you are having separate parties then these days people tend to choose a more sophisticated approach now rather than the standard night out. This might include a boat trip in Brisbane, a fun day out in the city enjoying afternoon tea or champagne evening receptions, and even things like city breaks of holidays for specific events.

A family affair

Maybe you like the idea of keeping the bachelor or bachelorette party as a family only affair. More people are choosing this option as it can be more of an intimate gathering. It certainly means that a small meal out, seeing a theatre show or enjoying a spa day is much more easily enjoyed than it would be in a larger group.

The party at home

There is no place like home, and so now more people are having these parties at home instead of out. It can workout much cheaper on the budget side of things, and with a wedding to pay for can be a more favourable option to family and friends. It could include a garden party where a BBQ is on the go, or maybe even just drinks and snacks in your living room. Whatever you prefer to do.

No party at all

Finally, more couples are now choosing to not have a party at all. It can be seen as unnecessary cost and when couples have been together for some time, and perhaps have had children before marriage, it can seem like a better option all round.

So there you have it, while the trend isn't completely down and out and alternative are rising in popularity, could it be that in the future this is not going to necessarily be the done thing? We shall have to see.
