3 Defence Tips
-
Always pivot yourself and establish a solid defence ground to make it hard for your opponent to counter you. In the same way, avoid leaning back or taking your eyes off your opponent throughout the process of striking a punch. Doing this eliminates the chances of unforseen/unavoidable attacks landing on you.
-
Remember to keep your elbows low and your hands high when defending, with your head constantly moving behind the two defence hands.
-
Learn to stop-out your opponent's attacks before they complete a series of punches on you. This way, you get a theory-learned opponent disorganized and land them more punches than you would if you were waiting to block all the incoming punches.
4 Punching Tips
-
Be determined to keep your eyes laser-focused on your opponent. By this, I don't mean focusing on a particular area of their body. What I do mean is a complete, wholesome focus on the totality of your opponent and being watchful of their every move through the whole process of attacking.
-
A change in breath can change a whole lot of things. In the ring, forming the habit of breathing out as you throw a punch will relax your abdominal stress, allowing you to use your full strength capacity to unleash greater punches. Besides, nothing can stop you from performing at your best more than fatigue/stress can.
-
Keep the number of punches you throw under control. Throwing 10 aggressive punches in 10 seconds will wear you out faster and may even land you in trouble. Count your punches and be determined to throw a maximum of 4-6 punches every 10 seconds or so (this should be decided by your level and inner strength).
-
The real power isn't coming from your fist alone, otherwise you would be limited. Learn to understand your body and energy inorder to release all the punches that you throw from your whole body and not your fist alone.
Training Tips
-
Drink a lot of energy drinks than water before heading to the gym of your training space.
-
Workout everyday every year to keep growing. Break, heal, grow, and repeat. The ability to adapt to change in all kinds of form will keep you always prepared for whatever competition comes your way.
-
Always be relaxed comes what may, and listen to your body than you listen to your mind. Make a lot of great friends in the gym and read books written by the likes of Mike Tyson and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
