Business

Money is always an issue when it comes to turning your dreams into reality. At least, that’s the case with a great majority of adventure seekers from all over the world. It is at the same time the biggest obstacle to enjoying some amazing experiences that only travelling can provide. However, does it really have to be a problem we can’t overcome? Do we really need to be stuck at home until we save up enough cash for out travels? Well, it turns out that the answer is “no”.

While we could argue that travelling has become more affordable than ever, there is still a problem of being able to afford everything we’d love to do and see. One of the best ways to help you get enough money to fully enjoy your trip is to actually spend some time working while away from home. So, what jobs could you consider doing abroad?

Seasonal work

Depending on the destination and the time of the year when you’re travelling, you might consider taking up a seasonal job. If there is a big tourist season, you might find a job at a ski resort or on the coast if you’re travelling in summer. However, you need to apply and secure such a job in advance instead of just showing up and expecting to get a decently paid job.

Online freelancing

Probably the most obvious option when it comes to remote working is that you actually continue doing what you normally do, but from some other destination. Those whose job doesn’t require physical presence have the luxury of travelling and working at the same time, which means they don’t have to lose any of their income. What’s more, they might make some great deals while on the road because they’ll definitely develop their network of acquaintances and prospective business partners.

Learn to teach

If you’re a native speaker of English, but have no qualifications to teach it, you might consider taking up a course and getting a certificate that would enable you to get a job as an English teacher. Southeast Asia is a very popular destination among globetrotters and teachers of English, for example. That’s why many native speakers attend courses, such as the practical Monkey Tree’s TEFL course, which give them both practical knowledge and suitable qualifications. Talk about killing two birds with one stone!

Cruise ships

Another way to see the world and actually make some money along the way is to find work on a cruise ship. You’ll be required to work a lot, but there will also be opportunities to visit some parts of the world you would otherwise never see. Also, you’ll definitely meet people from all over the world, which is another benefit of leaving your home.

Au pair

If you’re great with kids and don’t mind doing some light housework, why wouldn’t you be an au pair for a while? You’ll get accommodation, food and a weekly paycheck, which you’ll be able to use at the weekend and explore the country. There are many websites offering this job and if you’ve already done something like this and have recommendations from previous employers, you’ll stand very good chances of getting the same job abroad.

Hostels

Hostels are known for their high staff turnover. They are often looking for people to work the desk, clean or show the guests around town. This might be your chance to trade a few hours of cleaning for a free bed, for example. The best part is that you can stay and work for as long as you want – a day, week or month.

These are just some of the ways in which you can make some money while travelling, which should help you achieve more while away from home. They can also help you experience some amazing moments that you’d never have if you stayed at home. So, keep an open mind and explore the available options and your trip can turn out to be better than you’ve ever expected!
