Wednesday nights were always filled with mahjong fun for mom Megan Trottier (that's her, at left). Today, It’s no longer only a weekly pastime but rather a growing business on the cusp of the American mahjong explosion.

Megan’s brand, Oh My Mahjong is so popular it is now carried in Neiman Marcus for their upcoming holiday offerings in less than one year after launching. This is big news for a small woman owned business.

Megan got back into playing mahjong during the pandemic (she dusted off a set given to her for college graduation) . Once again she became hooked and loved the entertainment it gave to her and her friends at their weekly game night. This laid the seed for what was to come.

The Oh My Mahjong brand started in Megan’s three-car garage, where she was excited to share her love of this age-old game with others. Could this become a full-fledged business with folks becoming just as captivated as she was in this game's varieties of tiles and accessories?

Indeed it could! Orders took off and she moved to a warehouse shortly after launching. Her mahjong line with a modern twist gives game night a super fun refresh where tradition blends with innovation (sorry, bunko and bridge!). Tiles: (From $350) - Choose from fun blue and purple soiree and spring designs that add a new pizzazz to game night!

Mats: ($60) - Select from OG, Preppy, Bird Bam, and Lilac designs.

Rack & Pushers: ($45) A must-have as you start dealing your tile. Spice up gameplay with these offerings in clear and acrylic colors.

She is having the time of her life using her artistic talents to develop modern styles people love while paying homage to the traditional Chinese symbols representing the game. The four-player game of skill, strategy, and luck originated in Ancient China and is still a quintessential, highly-regarded ritual today. Megan says:

Oh My Mahjong is not just about creating cute tiles and boxes, it's about celebrating the rich history of mahjong and giving a voice to the people who have played it for generations. I mean, have you guys ever talked to someone who has been playing mahjong for decades? They have some seriously cool stories to tell.

For holiday 2023, look for Oh My Mahjong in Neiman Marcus stores, with special events planned for the Dallas and Fort Worth locations. It’s a game to share with family and friends for loads of fun and enjoyment to create your own stories.

About Oh My Mahjong:

As a painter, Megan Trottier launched the Oh My Mahjong brand to bring her own happy, colorful designs to this traditional game. She based her "OG Line" on the original Mahjong set she was given when she graduated college. Her second line for the brand features brightly painted hearts from Megan's "What You Love" artwork series. Her tiles have transformed into modern stripes with a fun take on traditional Chinese symbols. She hopes her modern take on Mahjong will encourage a new generation of players to make their own traditions. Follow Megan on Instagram @meganjanehome and @ohmymahjong.
