The WKMT Free Music College

A unique and inclusive educational concept
Our "Free Music Uni" or "Free Music College" primary purpose is to preserve and share the tradition of teaching classical music at a high level.
It happens that people are mainly interested in taking beginner piano lessons, but: what happens with international students in need of advanced music tuition?
It is common to see incredibly talented people in the developing countries and Europe who would appreciate having access to high-quality tuition but do not have the resources to finance it in their own countries.
WKMT is based in London, and its team of educators, one of the most prestigious in the city.
The purpose of this music education opportunity
The idea is to share with students interested in receiving a high-standard education in music. We welcome students from other Universities and Colleges as well.
We direct our sessions to those students that want to go beyond the mere learning of the rules; the whole idea is to learn why we are studying them.
The fascinating aspect of this project is that it can become a non-restricted hub for genuinely talented people around the whole globe.
Teaching Methodology
We focus our methodology on stimulating participants to produce original works after the theoretical presentation. The teacher can do an individual follow-up within a workshop-like environment for active participants.
Active participants and listeners
Active participants are the students who we welcome at inside the Zoom session itself. These participants can ask questions live, and the teachers can analyse their work.
To access active-participant status, you can apply for a scholarship by emailing secretariat@wkmt.co.uk. We are looking forward to welcoming talented individuals from all around the world!
Each session allows a maximum of 25 active participants. If a student cannot be eligible for a scholarship, he can still apply for participation. In any case, we will assess the student level before granting access to active involvement.
On the other hand, everyone can participate in a listener. LIstener-students can also ask questions about the lessons. Our forum at WKMT.co.uk is purposed to welcome all enquiries.
The WKMT Free Music College
We call our new endeavour the WKMT"Free Music College" mainly because we don't charge for anyone to listen to our lessons and to ask questions on our forum.
Music Subjects selection
We teach the foundational subjects for music composition students and advanced instrumental students -pianists, organists, violinists...-
We cover Classical Music Analysis, Practical Composition, Piano Technique, Counterpoint and Harmony.
As this project is entirely vocational, we allow ourselves to indulge in teaching very advanced subjects based on the celebrated masterpieces of music.
Our Harmony lessons are found in the Treatise of Harmony by Arnold Schoenberg, and our Classical Music analysis sessions are inspired in the book Classical Forms by William Caplin -also Shoenbergian in conception-.
To listen to our lessons -past and live streamed-, you only need to access
