What Tech Should Restaurant Owners be Using?
- Written by News Company
If you're looking for ways to make your restaurant more efficient, innovative, and unique, making sure the technology you're using is up to date is a great place to start. The National Restaurant Association states that 32% of restaurant operators believe that their restaurants are not using optimal technology. When we think of the word "technology", another word that may come to mind is "expensive". Don't worry! There are plenty of tools that you can utilize that won't cost an arm and a leg, and we're going to tell you what you need to know about them.
1. POS System
Having a POS system for your restaurant is of the utmost importance. They're used widely in the hospitality industry and over 80% of restaurant owners are using a POS system and some of them change the dining experience completely. For example, a POS system called Digital Dining sync to tablets you can place on top of tables so customers can look over digital menus, place their orders, and check out through the system when they're ready.
2. Tabletop Tablets
Piggy-backing off of the POS system leads us to the tabletop tablet. Giving the customer the power to order and check out through a tablet has led to a breakthrough in the restaurant industry. Not only are you giving more power to the customer, the orders can be transferred more quickly and accurately to the kitchen leading to fewer mistakes and increased customer satisfaction. With the orders being taken care of waiters and waitresses are able to establish a more personal connection with the customers since the legwork is already taken care of.
Online ordering is a great way to increase the volume of your business. By making online ordering available to your customers, you allow them the opportunity to grab their favorite food on the go without having to make phone calls or wait in long lines. It is typical of a restaurant that offers this service to experience higher revenue, more accurate orders, and the ability to track data based on the orders being placed.
4. Create a Loyalty Program
In creating a loyalty program, you create more of an opportunity for returning customers- and it can easily be done by making an app people can easily access on their phones. You can also track data from an app or an online program that tells you valuable information about your customer base such as when they visit most often and why. Punch cards can easily be lost but almost everyone has their phone on them the majority of the time!
5. Wi-Fi
You would be surprised at how many people walk into restaurants asking for wi-fi and head for another place when they find out it isn't offered. You're more than likely already going to have internet service at your restaurant, why not offer it to your customers? People like having a location to go to that they can hang out for a bit and sometimes that means getting things done on the internet. If you provide a space for them to do that, they are likely to hang around longer and order more items off of your menu and encourage others to check it out.
Consider introducing the best restaurant technology to your restaurant to take it to increase its efficiency and the satisfaction of your customers!
