BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Champlain College will hold its fourth annual local history event, Water Meets Land: Commerce, Recreation, and Preservation of Burlington’s Waterfront on Wednesday, May 25. Hosted by the College’s Special Collections program and Office of Advancement, the program will feature two presentations on waterfront history and an exhibition of collections drawn from the College’s Llewellyn Collection of Vermont History. Local historian Vincent E. Feeney will speak on “The Early Days of Burlington’s Inland Port,” and preservationist Britta Fenniman Tonn will present on “The Burlington Breakwater, Past and Present.”

Water Meets Land will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Champlain Room at Champlain College’s Center for Communications and Creative Media at 375 Maple St., in Burlington. Presentations will begin at 7:30 p.m., and light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.
